Function Signal Generator Series

A function signal generator produces simple, repeatable waveforms. At its core are an electronic oscillator and circuitry that create periodic waveforms. Modern instruments typically use digital signal processing (DSP) to synthesize the waveform and a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to output a highly stable analog signal. Common outputs include sine, sawtooth, pulse, square, and triangle; an arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) can create user-defined waveforms. For oscillators operating at audio and above (> 20 kHz), typical modulation features include AM, FM, and PM to provide diverse test stimuli.
